So Jake had a leftover coupon I gave him for Christmas a couple years ago that I let him extend into this year. The coupon was for a dessert of his choosing made by me. He's decided recently that he wants to use it.
Except we're trying to lose weight. (Ok, let me clarify, we ARE losing weight, which is very exciting by the way.) I've been trying to be strategic about when I made it so that we wouldn't eat too many high-calorie things right in a row. Last night Jake and I sat down and figured out about how many calories would be in one piece if we made it into 8 slices. It's just under 500 calories. That's how many calories I'm supposed to be eating in one MEAL. Yeah. So we decided we'd be real careful, and we'd make the pie last at least two weeks. This was part of our conversation last night.
Elizabeth: You really think we can control ourselves?
Jake: We're adults. Seriously. We can handle this.
Elizabeth: Yeah, but you're forgetting that we're addicted to food.
I felt confident enough to make it just a few minutes ago. Except when I made it, there was too much pudding filling to fit into the pie, so I ate the leftover pudding mixture. Then I called Jake and reminded him that I have an addiction.
That's ok though, because I won't eat a piece when he eats his first one. So it's like I've already eaten my first piece, but it was fewer calories than if I had eaten the whole thing.
I can do this.
Seriously.

You're hilarious. Now that I've seen the pie myself (and eaten a piece), I'm not really convinced we're strong enough to say no. But maybe we are. Right?
